Most of my research has been at the intersection of machine learning, NLP, and information retrieval. Currently, I amm working on methods for reading, understanding, and summarizing patient records and providing support for software I have developed to de-identify patient records, perform medial named entity recognition, and perform search. Prior grants have included analyzing sensor data for Honeywell Government Systems division, and analyzing intelligence data for the Air Force Research Laboratory.
At MSOE, I teach a variety of computer science and software engineering classes, and have been actively involved in helping to develop the new computer science curriculum.
Prior to entering academia, I had several years of professional experience in electronic countermeasures, computer vision, critical care monitoring, data mining, and consulting.
